Winter at Buffalo Horticulture

​The wintertime. I need it, but its coming to an end so quickly. Everyone wonders what happens here at Buffalo Horticulture during the "off season." But, I swear to you my winter's are busier. The difference being, the disciplinary force, pressure, and anxieties aren't circling around responding to the needs of production and clients - it is responding to my own task list which expands with the season. Here's a sense of the winter tasks:  

• Reconcile and balance all accounts.
•  File Sales Tax
• Renew Highway Use Tax
• Clear all accounts receivable
• Manage "rezoning" project at warehouse for storage
• Overhaul and update website
• Send out all equipment for scheduled maintenance
• Manage catch basin install at warehouse
• Tax preparation
• Archive 2016 financials
• Average 70 miles running/week
• Butterblock collaborations (accounting and deliveries)
• 1-2 hours reading per day

• Bi-weekly start up of trucks and equipment
• Home improvement projects
• Design work for spring
• Daily social media writing
• last seasons image archiving
• Daily creatives and collaborations - floral work, camera work, writing
• Write talk for PBN Niagara March 9th
• Negotiate new payroll company
• insurance audits
• Ferncroft - occasional forage, material acquisition, and "powwow"
• Spring maintenance proposals
• Maintain daily bookkeeping
